On 28th November 2019, Lawrie & Symington Ltd announced the appointment of Gordon Renwick as Chairman of the Board. Gordon was appointed to the position following the untimely death of Brian Dickie in September this year.
Gordon farms at Traquair Knowe and Howford, Innerleithen where he lives with his wife Hazel. His extensive farming background and property development experience has been invaluable to Lawrie & Symington since he joined the Board in July 2012. He is the longest serving member of the Board and has been a staunch supporter of the Company, both as a director and as a regular customer at the market, and will be well known to many shareholders, customers and staff.
Lawrie & Symington is fortunate to have a pool of talented people throughout the business and Gordon is looking forward to working with them as the business faces the challenges ahead for the agricultural industry.
Gordon takes over at a time when the business is doing well despite the difficult trading conditions for the agricultural industry.
On his appointment, Gordon said, “It is a great honour to be allowed to chair this business which has been part of my life over many years. I am committed to see the business continue to move forward.”
Lawrie & Symington celebrated 150 years of trading in Lanark in 2017 and continues to operate from its base at the Lanark Agricultural Centre in addition to the company’s second site, The Forfar Mart.
