DATES FOR YOUR DIARY! Friday 11th and Saturday 12th December 2020, there’s only one place to be – whether it’s virtually or in person – and that’s Lanark Market. Across the two days, Lawrie and Symington will host the Lanark Crackers and Select Seven sales of in-lamb Texel females, featuring sheep from some of the best flocks in the country.
The Select Seven sale started 23 years ago and includes some of the longest established Texel flocks in Britain, with a depth of quality, successful bloodlines throughout. This year, in addition to Auldhouseburn, Boghouse, Cambwell, Clarks, Craighead, Ettrick, Garngour, Grougfoot, Knock, Procters, Teiglum and Watchknowe, there will also be females from the Usk Vale flock.
The Lanark Crackers sale began in 2018 with a bang and has quickly built up a reputation as a destination to acquire top class females. This year’s line-up features Allanfauld, Brackenridge, Cairnam, Dalwyne, Duncryne, Foreman Hill, Forkins, Haddo, Hartside, Hexel, Mitchellhill, Nochnary, Rhaeadr and Strawfrank.
Both sales are renowned for producing gimmers and lambs bought in utero, that go on to breed successfully in their new flocks.
In-line with the current Covid 19 guidelines, the number of buyers allowed in the market will be restricted, but online bidding will be available to ensure that no-one misses out. Keep an eye out on each sale’s Facebook page for regular updates along with photographs and videos of the sale lots.
