Forfar Mart, held its first live sale of Working Dogs at East Ingliston Farm, Forfar, by kind permission of Andrew Steel.
There was a catalogued entry of 22 dogs comprising of Broken, Part Broken and Pups. We had a huge amount of interest prior to the sale from America to Arbroath, the Highlands and Islands and everywhere else in between.

Broken
Our top price of the day went to Alan Wilkie, Glenmoy, with his leading lady Lyn, a black/white/tan 2yo dog realising 8000gns, bought on behalf of a client from America. Sired by Rob (J K Allan) Dam Kate (A Dickman), Lyn exuded style and elegance in her performance today, she has competed in trials throughout the year gaining points for the National, and has been making her mark at Nurseries, a very capable working dog.
Alan's second dog of the day was Lot 8, Hill Runner Bill. Sired by Middery Kid out of Hill Runner Jenna, Bill's breeding showed in his performance today, and the potential he has for the future as a trial dog and an excellent farm dog. The hammer came down at 2800gns to local farmer Ian Ogg, Carroch.
Ian Brownlee, Dunbar had forward Lot 6, Shug. Shug Sired by Cap 333599 (W Welsh) Dam Mo 363809 (J Emerson) is an exceptional 22 month black/white/tan dog which realised 6500gns to Tom Linton. A tremendous young dog, with all the component parts to becoming an outstanding open trial dog. A natural outrunner with great balance, power, stamina and a real determination to get the job done. He's proven himself capable working hill ground, large flocks and penning. He's going to be a huge asset in his new home.
George Simpson, Forgue peaked at 6000gns for his first entry, the lovely Luna. Luna a black/white/tan rising 3yo, Sire Gary (S Van Der Zweep) Dam Cefneithin Lyn (D L Williams), she has a fantastic pedigree behind her oozing quality and class. Luna has been competing in trials and placed highly. A sharp bitch with a big outrun and very responsive to commands. Experienced in farm work, ATV and pick up.
George's second entry was the fantastic Finn, a black/white rising 3yo dog. Finn showed himself off to perfection and realised 3800gns to Mr Ted Fox. A dog that has been successful at Nursery
trial events and competent working with cattle and sheep.
Lot 1 - from Anna Nicholson, Killin kicked the sale off with her smart attentive rising 5yo black/white/tan dog Jet, A natural and able farm dog which sold to 1500gns, finding his new home with young shepherd Fraser Dandie, Forfar.
Part Broken
Dougie Galbraith, Comrie, sold Lot 10. A promising up and coming 1yo. Tex a black/white/tan dog Sire Moss (P Byrne) Dam Heather Hill Mon (P Byrne) realised 1600gns to M/S Hamilton, Tippethill.
Paul Simpson, Kirriemuir consigned Lot 13 - Dun Chaileann Jamie, a black/white rising 2yo dog Sired by Sture (M Young) Dam Jess (M Young) sold to 1500gns to Peter Milton, Keith. Jamie is a fantastic mover, working at hand on whistles and has the makings of a cracking farm dog.
Shearing Contractor Jack Simpson, Braco made his debut today selling his black/white/tan rising 2yo dog, the fabulous Finn for 1400gns to Ross Nicholson, Isle of Skye. A smart dog who is ready and raring to go to work.
