L&S held their opening show & sale of Autumn born suckled calves with a catalogue entry of 1386 forward. The show was ably judged by Mr Kevin Orr, Penston Farm, Macmerry, who awarded the championship to an excellent Limousin heifer from Ian McGarva, Nether Abington Farm, which scaled at 490kg selling to £1,300 to Messrs McAlister, West Thomaston Farm. The reserve went to a Limousin bullock from Messrs T Laird & Son, Sunnyside/Carbello Farm, weighing 426kg and selling at £1,050 to W Dandie, Learielaw Farm, full show results can be found below. Bullocks topped at £1,130 for a Limousin from Hugh Dunlop, Holehouse Farm, or to 246.5p/kg for the reserve champion, to average 198.36p/kg. Heifers sold to a top of £1,300 for the champion calf, and to 265.3p/kg for the same animal, to level at 190.35p/kg. Peebles JAC
Peebles JAC had their annual consignment of suckled calves forward. Top price was £1,290 for a 692kg Charolais from Neil Pate, Toxside Farm. Biggest weight gain was achieved by Craig Brown, Herbertshaw at 354kg gained, with most profit being made by the same beast at £390.
