KELSO RAM SALES

Lawrie & Symington had catalogued 1361 Rams for the Annual Kelso Ram Sale. With a large attendance of buyers from all over the UK and Ireland showing continued optimism in the sheep trade despite the uncertainty of Brexit all averages maintained last years levels

BLUEFACED LEICESTER

Top price was a Shearling consigned by Messrs WH Sharp & Son Newbigging Walls which realised £15,000 to T Dick & Son, Hamildean, A Campbell, Drimsynie, C & D Hall, Firth, J Herdman, Adlingham and RE Wood & Sons, Kingledores this was followed at £12,000 by a Shearling from the Midlock Flock of Messrs J Wight & Sons which was purchased by F Robertson, Beeches and M Coubrough, Hartside Flocks. The 277 Registered Bluefaced Leicester’s in Ring 15 averaged £1,043.68 with the 30 Lamb Rams levelling at £634.67

TEXELS

The Texel trade was topped at £8,500 for a shearling from Messrs Green, The Craggs, purchased by Messrs R Thornton, Cornhills, Kirkwhelpington At £7,200 Messrs M Seed & Son, Auchry sold their top shearling to Esmor Evans, Mold. This was followed by two at £7,000 the first from Messrs A Gray & Sons Langside purchased jointly by Messrs B & W McAlistair, Artnagullion and G Beacom, Lakeview Flocks in Northern Ireland and  from the Hartside flock of Malcolm Coubrough purchased by W Wearmouth & Son, Rosehill, Bishop Auckland. The 452 Shearlings in Ring 7 and 9 averaged £920.37 with the 144 Ram Lambs levelling at £520.27

The Charollais Rams were topped by Messrs A Gray & Sons, Langside for a Shearling which sold for £1,000 to PG Perrings, Hoprig, Cockburnspath. The 107 Charollais Shearling and Lamb Rams averaged £453.27
