L&S held their annual show & sale of spring born suckled calves with 532 forward for sale. The show was ably judged by Mr Robin McDonald, Low Middleton, Belford. The championship was awarded to an excellent Limousin x bullock from Messrs Laird, Sunnyside/Carbello, Cumnock, which scaled 442kg and sold for £1,100 to the judge. Reserve champion went to another Limousin x heifer this time from Mr R Orr, Lawhead, Tarbrax, which scaled 386kg and sold for £1,010. Bullocks topped at £1,160 for a British Blue from A & C S Comrie, Stonebyres Mains, and to 332.2p/kg for a Limousin from Allanton Farming, to average 218.2p/kg. Heifers topped at £1,010 twice, firstly for the reserve champion and then for a Limousin x from Messrs Laird, Sunnyside/Carbello, and to 314.3p/kg for a British Blue from Jean Mackay, Harelaw, Barrhead, to level at 210.8p/kg.
