INAUGURAL SALE OF ‘LANARK LIMELIGHTS’
INCLUDING SHOW & SALE OF BLUEFACED LEICESTERS
Topping this Inaugural Sale was a Bluefaced Leicester Ewe Hogg from Messrs Lord, Hewgill, selling to Ms Claire Davies, Merryhill via telephone bid for £4,400. She is sired by the G23 Marriforth and was placed 2nd at the Pre-Sale Show.
Following this at £1,500 was a Bluefaced Leicester In-Lamb Gimmer from Messrs J Wight & Son, Midlock – she was 1st Prize, and Overall Champion at the Pre-Sale Show – selling to the judge, Mr David Stewart, Crookboat Farm. She is sired by the J021 Midlock, and sold carrying twins to K1 Shafthill.
3rd top price, was another Bluefaced Leicester Ewe Hogg, again from Messrs Lord, Hewgill. She is by the H45 Hewgill, selling to Cameron & Allan Jackson, Birkenshaw for £1050.
Next at £820 was Midlocks No.1 Ewe Hogg by Midlock J060, she sold to Messrs McArthur, Cretlevane Farm, Balfron. This was followed at £600 for the 2nd Midlock Ewe Hogg by K1 Shafthill and finding a new home with Messrs Shedden, Newfield.
The true blue types also topped at £600 for lot 16, a 2-Crop Ewe from G P William & Co, Elian Flock, this Red Cottage G4 daughter sold carrying twins to Mendick K1 and found a new home with Stuart Nelson, Medwyn Flock.
Then at £580, Messrs Bell, Highfield, sold a Ewe Hogg by Blairnavaid J12 to Messrs Nisbet, Orchardton, Cumnock, with another the same way bred realising £520 to Mr W Linton, Thirstane Cottage, Abington.
Three lots then sold at the £500 mark. Firstly for the 1st from the Dalpeddar pen, an Old Henley J022 daughter which found a new home with Mr W Linton, Thirstane, who also purchased another from Dalpeddar, this time the Reserve Champion, a Forebrae E015 daughter, for the same price. The last lot at £500 came from Messrs Brown, MacQueston, who’s No 2 Hogg by Carry House K001 sold to Messrs Staunton, Eire.
Texel In-Lamb Gimmers sold to £200 from Mr J Allison, Easton, selling to Messrs JN, GN & H Wilkins, Wester Whitecastle, carrying twins to Incheoch Action Man.
Beltex In-Lamb Gimmers sold to £300 from Mrs M Dunlop, Corstane, selling to Messrs Wilkins again, carrying twins to Ryder Cider.
Beltex Ewe Hoggs sold to £400 from Mr D Hodge, selling females from his flock for the first time. This Ewe Hogg sold to G Fleming, Shoestanes.
