L&S held the Annual Show & Sale of Blackface In-Lamb Females on Saturday 23 February. Once again there was an excellent show of quality, well bred sheep forward, and with possibly the largest attendance of buyers from all over Scotland and Ireland, a great trade prevailed throughout the sale.

The judge Mr Robert Marshall, Potts of Raine, Meikle Wartle, awarded the Championship to a 1-crop ewe from Robert Cockburn, Hill of Errol, a daughter of the £13,000 Troloss sire, out of a £60,000 Nunnerie dam, she sold to the judge got the Harestone Flock, where he is manager, for 2,500gns. The judge also backed his decision by purchasing the Reserve Champion, a gimmer by Hawkeye, out of a £44,000 Crossflatt dam, from the Crimp Cramp Flock of Messrs J Wight & Sons, for 1,200gns.

Top price of the day was 8,000gns from the Loughask Flock of J & C Harkin, this 1-crop ewe by £3,500 Auldhouseburn sire, out of a dam by the Buffalo, was purchased by Veroica Fullerton, Draperstown.
