L&S held their annual sale of rare breeds with 531 lots of sheep, horses, goats, pigs & poultry forward. Held in conjunction with today’s sale was the annual show of Hebridean & Shetland sheep.
The Scottish national show of Hebridean sheep was judged by Mr Eric Medway, whos champion was a shearling ram from Mrs VC Mason, which sold to £320. Reserve champion was a gimmer from Mr E Dunbar and later realised £110.
The Scottish national show of Shetland sheep was judged by Mrs S Russell, who awarded the championship to an aged ram from Mr & Mrs Baird, Boggs holdings, with reserve champion going to the ewe from J Brunton, Fieldview and sold to £80.
Outwith the show, trade was topped at £300 for a 2-crop Hungarian Screwhorn ewe or £370 for a female pygmy goat. Poultry sold to a top of £80 for a trio of white silkies.
