ONLINE TIMED AUCTION OF BLACKFACE INLAMB FEMALES

 

The firm held its annual sale of Blackface Inlamb Females (on behalf of Blackface Sheep Breeders Association), where this year it took the format of an Online Timed Auction between 24th and 25th February 2021 due to the current Covid-19 restrictions. The sale seen a total clearance achieved with all 50 females finding new homes. The Sale grossed £160,702, resulting in an average of £3,214.00.

 

A new centre record was achieved when father and son duo – Hugh and Alan Blackwood, Auldhouseburn Farm, Muirkirk realised 14,000gns for their sole entry which sold to Kofali Farming, Hot Nuts Ltd, Brampton Road, London. Behind this gimmer, she was sired by the £160,000 Elmscleugh with her Dam sired by the £90,000 Blackhouse. She sold having scanned a single to the £70,000 Harestone.

 

John and Patrick Harkin, Loughash Road, Donnemana also received a good days trading when two of their three entries broke the 10,000gns mark. First to do this was their second entry, a 2-Crop Ewe sired by the £24,000 Crossflatt with her dam sired by the £24,000 Elmscleugh. Selling for 10,200gns, she sold carrying twins due early April by the £38,000 Dalchirla in partnership to Cloughfin Blackface owned by J P Grant, Clonmany, Co Donegal and B Curran, Coney Road, Cumore, Co Derry.

 

John and Patrick’s other entry to sell for 10,000gns was their third lot, a gimmer sired by the £7,000 Nunnerie with her dam by the £7,000 Elmscleugh. She also sold carrying twins due early April to the £9,000 Elmscleugh. She sold to K Donaghey, Effishmore, Clonmany, Co Donegal.

 

Eoin & Kirstyn Blackwood, Dalblair sold their first entry for 5,100gns to Grant Bros, Craigdoo, Newry, Co Down. This gimmer is sired by the £28,000 Auldhouseburn with her dam sired by the £52,000 Crossflatt. She sold carrying twins to the £20,000 Orchilmore.

 

Tommy Renwick and son Tam, Williamhope, Clovenfords also seen a flying trade when their first catalogued entry sold for 4,400gns. This gimmer is sired by the £75,000 Glenrath with her dam by the £25,000 Elmscleugh. She sold due twins to the £19,000 Dalchirla to E Fraser, Balgowan Farm, Laggan, Newtonmore.

 

Selling at 4,100gns from Messrs J & J Murray, Crossflatt Farm, Muirkirk was their 4-Crop ewe sired by the £90,000 Blackhouse, with her dam by McCoy. She sold carrying a single to the £14,000 Crossflatt to A Fletcher of Fletcher Farming, Laigh Hatton, Bishopton – all proceeds from this ewe are being donated to the RSABI.
