Scottish Area Branch Show & Sale of Suffolk Sheep

 

Lawrie & Symington Ltd conducted the 86th Scottish Area Show and Sale of Pedigree Suffolk Sheep in Lanark, where a busy crowd of people ensured a buoyant trade throughout.

 

A new sale for gimmers and ewe lambs took place on the Thursday evening where demand for outstripped supply.

 

The sale topped at 3,500gns for a gimmer from Messrs Barbour, Solwaybank selling to Messrs Sufferin, Crewelands flock.

 

Ewe Lambs sold to 3,000gns for the female champion from Messrs Scott, Strathview and found a new home with Messrs Boden & Davies, Sportsmans flock.

On Friday, ram lambs met a blistering trade from the off and the previous breed record was shattered when the first lamb from Messrs Poole, Salopian rocketed to 200,000gns and made its way home Messrs Boden & Davies, Sportsmans flock and Messrs R Jenkinson, Dunfell flock. A further nine lambs sold at five-figure prices. The 143 sheep sold was 92% clearance rate and resulted in an average of £4,761.
