Show and Sale of Hoggs with Lambs at Foot
Lawrie and Symington Ltd held their weekly sale of 1709 Ewes and Hoggs with Lambs at Foot. Included was the annual show and sale of 690 Hoggs with Lambs at foot. The show was ably judged by Mr Scott Anderson, Oldwalls and kindly sponsored by Lance Armstrong Shearing and Mobile Dipping. The championship was awarded to a pen of outstanding Suffolk and Texel Hoggets with Beltex Las from Messrs T Laird & Son, Carbello which realized £148 per life selling to the judge. The reserve went to a pen of Mules with Texel lambs from the same home which went on to realise £134 per head selling to Messrs Ritchie, Barduff.
Out with the show and sale of hoggs, the (1019) ewes with lambs at foot met an excellent trade selling at extreme rates and topping at £140 for Texel Gimmer with Beltex Las from Messrs T Laird & Son, Carbello.
