CALVES
The fortnightly calf sale saw 111 calves & stirks forward to a quieter ringside with trade not as buoyant as previous weeks.
Stirks topped at £470 for a British Blue heifer from Longlea, with dairy stirks selling to a top of £265 for a Montbeliarde from Marshill Farm.
Beef bull calves peaked at £380 on two occasions, firstly for a British Blue from Dykehead, and then for a Simmental from Gartclush.
Beef heifers topped at £255 also on two occasions, for British Blue heifers from Swaites & Hillhead.
Dairy bull calves sold to a top of £130 twice, for a Norwegian Red from Gartclush, and then for a British Friesian from Machrihanish.

Hoggs
A much larger show of 3911 prime hoggs were forward with a 2 tier trade. Best hoggs, export hoggs and light hoggs met a good trade but over 45kg were worth no more unless very good.
The sale topped at £144 per head for Texels from Messrs Baillie, Broomfield & Messrs Struthers, Collielaw and to 340p/kg for Beltex from Messrs Dun, Jeanfield and Messrs Frame, High Dykye.
