Lawrie and Symington Ltd sold 981 Store Cattle at their April Show & Sale. The firm’s thanks must be extended to The Scottish Farmer for sponsoring and to Mr James Crichton, Egremount, Cumbria for coming along and judging.
The judge picked his Champion in the form of a Limousin X Bullock from Carbello/Sunnyside which scaled at 420kg and sold to £1400. The reserve ticket was awarded to a Charolais X Bullock from Dreva which weighed 492kg and realized £1580. Overall, bullocks topped at £1580 for the reserve champion from Dreva or to 333p/kg for the champion beast to average 244.2p/kg.
Heifers peaked at £1630 for a Simmental from Penicuik Estates or to 311.1p/kg for a 450kg Charolais from Dreva, to level at 231.49p/kg.
Dairy Bullocks sold to a top of £1060 on two occasions. Firstly, for a paid of Holstein Bullocks weighing 519kg from Mid St Colmac, Rothesay and then for a pair of Friesian Bullocks scaling 527kg from Bottomas to level at 197.4p.
