2114 lambs and 1678 Cast ewes were sold through Lanark. The sale topped at £116 per head for a Texel from J Paterson, Oxenshaw, and to 263p/Kg for a Texel from Oxenshaw. Overall average 186.3p/Kg (SQQ 187.5p/Kg).

Lambs
A larger show of lambs saw all classes dearer on the week, with all weight ranges keenly saught after. Best quality lambs achieved a premium with heavy lambs regularly over £90.

The largest show of Cast Ewes seen for some time saw a very fast selling trade with all classes in demand, especially big strong, best quality ewes. Sale topped at £156 for Texels from A Cullen, Craighead, Carluke.

The annual show of young handlers lambs was held today, kindly sponsored by Gary Whyte, and ably judged by Mr J Currie, Haswellsykes, Peebles. He awarded the championship to an outstanding Beltex lamb from John Patterson, Oxenshaw Farm, which scaled 44kg and realised £116, selling to Yorkshire Halal. Reserve went to John Barr, Hallhill Farm, which scaled 52kg realizing £114 selling to R Lawson.
