The Annual Select Seven Sale of Texel In lamb Gimmers took place at Lanark where a large attendance of buyers from all over the UK, Ireland and Holland ensured a buoyant trade throughout with record averages achieved.
Topping the sale was Alan and Hugh Blackwood’s Auldhouseburn Flock which sold two gimmers at 20,000gns. The first was a gimmer by the 60,000gns Clinterty Yuga Khan sold in lamb to the 130,000gns Sportsmans A Star, purchasing her was Rob Bennet to join his Plaschua Flock.
The second to make the same figure was another sired by Yuga Khan sold in lamb to the 125,000gns Rhaeadr Best of the Best, she will be joining the Castlecairn flock of Bruce Renwick at Kelso.
Auldhouseburn then reinvested some of their sale when purchasing the top Gimmer from the Garngour Flock from Alan, Andrew and David Clark at 17,000gns, this daughter of Knock Yardsman was sold in lamb to the new stock ram Silvermere Baltic who had been purchased at Lanark Premier Sale for 17,000gns.
The Procters Flock managed by Jeff and Jennifer Aiken from Slaidburn in Lancashire enjoyed one of there best days trading selling 3 five figure prices, the first at 12,000gns was a daughter of Teiglum Young Gun sold in lamb to the 100,000gns Sportsmans Batman, purchasing her was Charlie Boden for his Sportsmans flock. At 11,000gns David Morrison Dalwyne secured another Young Gun sold in lamb to the Batman ram. His third 5 figure price was 10,000gns when Gordon and David Gray secured another Young Gun to joing their Ettrick and Tima Flocks.
Gordon Gray’s Ettrick Flock secured a top price of 11,000gns for a daughter of Clinterty Yuga Khan sold in lamb to Usk Vale Albatross, securing her was David Morrison for his Dalwyne Flock.
George Howie from the Knock Flock topped his sale with a gimmer by the 32,000gns Arkle Ying Yang sold in lamb to the 28,000gns Knock Banker with Messrs Teward, New Farm, Darlington securing her.
Auldhouseburn continued their great day with another Clinterty Yuga Khan in lamb to Rhaeadr Best of the Best which realised 9,500gns to Carl Bellis, Cosyn Texels, this was followed by two at 9,000gns, the first purchased by Billy Graham Craigdarroch and the second by Keith, Alan and Roy Campbell for their Cowal flock, again both sired by Yuga Khan in lamb to Rhaeadr
