Lawrie & Symington held their Annual Christmas Show & Sale of Prime Cattle. The championship this year was awarded to a Limousin Heifer from T & A Taylor, Heatheryhall Farm, Thankerton, which scaled 634kg and sold for 3.40p/Kg or £2155.60, to A Davidson Butchers, Strathaven. The reserve was a 520kg Aberdeen Angus Heifer from D Dickinson, Brockwoodlees Farm, Canonbie, which realised 3.40p/Kg or £1768, and was purchased by Border Meats, Lockerbie. The 50 show cattle forward averaged 247p/Kg.

The sale topped at £95 per head for Beltex from Ashcraig Farming Partnership, and to 230p/Kg for Beltex from I Laird, Yeldabrek. Overall Average 173p/Kg (SQQ 180p/Kg)

A smaller show of lambs saw trade dearer on the week, with the best quality lambs and export lambs dearer and in demand. Heavy lambs slowly improving.
