Lawrie and Symington Ltd held their Annual Sale of 5565 Blackface Ewe & Gimmers also the 2nd sale of Blackface Ewe lambs, 1 Stock Dispersal and 1 Reduction were also forward as well as lowland females and rams in ring 2.
Although there was a distinct lack of Irish buyers present owing to the current export situation, the trade remained buoyant especially for the best end of stock on offer.
The sale topped at £9000 for an outstanding single gimmer from Messrs Blackwood, Auldhouseburn and purchased by Messrs McCurdy, next at £2500 came a pen of 6 Blackface gimmers from Messrs Murray, Crossflatt, selling to Messrs Shaw, Acharonich.
Blackface 5 year old ewes topped at £500 from Messrs Wright, Midlock selling to A Campbell, Ben Nevis followed at £460 from Messrs MacGregor, Allanfauld to Messrs Rankin, Gartachorrans.
Blackface ewe lambs topped at £110 from Messrs H Blackwood, Midtown.
The stock reduction of 183 from Messrs Fleming, Cronberry sold well to average £129.08.

The dispersal of 1000 head from Daltallochan Hill also met firm demand for good honest hill sheep.

Ring 2 saw 395 Cheviot and Lowland Ewes as well as 68 Rams of all classes met a flying trade from start to finish. Many more could easily have been sold.
Sale topped at £250 for Suffx X Tex gimmers from Gosland, Ewes to £118 for Texels from Mains of Tain.
Rams sold very well to a top of £800 (x3) all for Texel shearlings from Messrs Orr, Wester Walston.
Blue Texel shearlings to £720 from Messrs Orr, Wester Walston & Hartside.
