Cattle prime stock report

On Monday the 4th December 2023 Lawrie and Symington Ltd had forward 135 cattle comprising of 75 bullocks and heifers, 60 cast cows.

Limousin heifers sold to 352p/pk from Messrs Dickinson, Brockwoodlees Farm, Canonbie to Collins Butchers, Muirhead or to £2284 from Messrs Taylor, Heatheryhall Farm, Lanark to Hugh Black Butchers, Lanark.

Limousin bullocks sold to 335p/pk from Messrs Taylor, Heatheryhall Farm, Lanark to W Stark, Twechar or to £2131 from Messrs Dickinson, Brockwoodlees Farm, Canonbie.

Beef cows sold to £1550 per head from Messrs Gray, Scrogton Farm, Lanark or to 206p/pk Messrs Gray, Scrogton Farm, Lanark.

Stirks topped at £600 for a Limousin heifer from Cumberhead with calves peaking at £500 for a 3 month old British Blue bull from Loanfoot.

Lambs

The largest show seen in Lanark of 5520 prime lambs saw another grand show for quality if trade slightly less on week for the more common sheep, best quality still dear.

The sale topped at £161 per head for 2 from Messrs Struthers, Collielaw and to 311p/kg for Beltex from Messrs Baillie, Broomfield.

The 2071 cast ewes and rams were a better trade on the week with less mules on offer.  Best selling ewes in strong demand so long as lean.  Blackface ewes slightly firmer.

PLEASE NOTE:
There will be NO sundry section within the sale and we reserve the right not to accept entries which we feel are unfit for the sale.

COMMISSION RATES
• Commission will be charged on all lots at 10% on FIRST £200 of any lot and 5% thereafter (e.g., Sold at £350 = £20+£7.50=£27.50), capped at £350 per lot. Minimum £5 per lot. • All purchases will be subject to a 3% plus VAT buyer's premium on all lots capped at £350 per item sold by auction or by private treaty.

ENTRY FEES
Tractors, Gators, Quads and Vehicle (To be sold online) £10 + VAT per lot DELIVERY OF ITEMS TO SALE YARD All Farm Machinery and Implements must be delivered to our saleyard by 3 pm on the day before the sale with the exception of Tractors, Vehicles and Quad which may arrive no later than 10.00am on the Thursday. Due to ongoing Health and Safety issues, there will be NO unloading facility available on Sale Day with loading permitted only after the conclusion of the sale.

ONLINE FACILITY
Tractor, Telehandlers, Gators, Quads and Vehicles will also be offered for sale through our online facility alongside the live sale via a drive through, any machine which cannot be driven through will be sold in the line with no online facility.

All items are sold as seen and will be conducted under the Lawrie & Symington and IAAS General Conditions of Sale which are available for inspection at our office.
