On Monday 29th April Lawrie and Symington Ltd held their fortnightly calf and stirk sale with 31 calves but with no compromise on quality.

Reaching the top price today was a pen of 6 4 and a half month old Aberdeen Angus Cross stirks, reaching £560 per head from Messrs Cuthbertson, Thripland Farm, Biggar.

On milk calves topped at £430 for a 2 month old Simmental bull calf from Stewart Farms, Balglass Farm, Lennoxton.

On Monday 29th April 2024 Lawrie and Symington sold 109 store hoggs, 2009 hoggs and 1019 cast ewes through Lanark.

Hoggs

A mixed show of hoggs again saw a two-tier trade with the best fleshed fed hoggs realizing a premium. Others just similar rate. More good fleshed hoggs required.

The sale topped at £248 per head for Texel from Messrs Gibb, Toftcombs Farm and to 485p/kg for Beltex from Messrs Hamilton, Mid Shawtonhill Farm.

The sale topped at £320 per head for Beltex from Messrs Hamilton, Mid Shawtonhill Farm and to £144 for a ring full of Blackface ewes from Messrs Blackwood, Auldhouseburn Farm.

Lawrie and Symington held their final motherless lambs sale for 2024 with prices reaching £30 (twice) for Suffolk Cross lambs from Messrs Orr, Lawhead Farm, Tarbrax. A smaller show provided a soaring trade, with an overall average of £18 per head.

There will be NO sundry section within the sale and we reserve the right not to accept entries which we feel are unfit for the sale.

COMMISSION RATES
• Commission will be charged on all lots at 10% on FIRST £200 of any lot and 5% thereafter (e.g., Sold at £350 = £20+£7.50=£27.50), capped at £350 per lot. Minimum £5 per lot. • All purchases will be subject to a 3% plus VAT buyer's premium on all lots capped at £350 per item sold by auction or by private treaty.

ENTRY FEES
Tractors, Gators, Quads and Vehicle (To be sold online) £10 + VAT per lot DELIVERY OF ITEMS TO SALE YARD All Farm Machinery and Implements must be delivered to our saleyard by 3 pm on the day before the sale with the exception of Tractors, Vehicles and Quad which may arrive no later than 10.00am on the Thursday. Due to ongoing Health and Safety issues, there will be NO unloading facility available on Sale Day with loading permitted only after the conclusion of the sale.

ONLINE FACILITY
Tractor, Telehandlers, Gators, Quads and Vehicles will also be offered for sale through our online facility alongside the live sale via a drive through, any machine which cannot be driven through will be sold in the line with no online facility.

All items are sold as seen and will be conducted under the Lawrie & Symington and IAAS General Conditions of Sale which are available for inspection at our office.
