SATURDAY 14TH SEPTEMBER 2024
INAUGURAL SHOW & SALE OF VALAIS BLACKNOSE SHEEP (On behalf of Scottish Valais Blacknose Club)
A Scottish record price of 11,000gns was achieved at the Inaugural Show and Sale of Valais Blacknose Sheep held in Lanark Agricultural Centre on behalf of the Scottish Valais Blacknose Club.
Pre-Show and Sale, the Valais Blacknose Society also held their Scottish Grading Event whilst the Scottish Club held their Inaugural Show.
The sale was topped when the fourth sheep into the ring, the overall Male Champion, realised 11,000gns for Highland Jazzy from Raymond Irvine and Jenni McAllister, Inverlochy, Glenlivet. One point off maximum points, this Two-Shear Ram is sired by Highland Furryboots and out of the homebred dam, Highland Erin II. After a fury of ringside and online bids via Marteye, Jazzy now heads home with Messrs Wood, Prendwick Farm, Whittingham.
Getting some of their outlay back, Messrs Wood lead the Shearling Ram trade at 2,000gns with Prendwick Knight Rider. By the Cheshire Incredible Hulk and out of Prendwick Faith, he was purchased online by Richard Beattie, Glenpark, Omagh.
Topping the female trade at 1,000gns was a ewe lamb, Prendwick Lady Top also from Prendwick Farms. Final call on the final lot of the day came from Steven Dace, Valais Farm, Over Alderley. Results of an Embryo Transfer, her breeding is sired by the Yew Tree Bertie and out of Prendwick Dot.
