On Monday 14^th October Lawrie and Symington Ltd had forward 184 cattle comprising of 40 bullocks and heifers, 65 cast cows and 79 calves and stirks.

Limousin heifers sold to 352p/pk from Brockwoodlees Farm to Mitchell Butchers, Glenrothies or to £2118 from Hill Farm, Strathaven to Black Butchers, Lanark.

Limousin bullocks sold to 320p/pk from East Shawtonhill Farm to Findlay Wholesale, Wishaw or to £2126 from Hill Farm, Strathaven to Chapman Butchers, Wishaw.

Beef cows sold to £1990 per head from Bushelhead Farm or to 237p/pk from the same home.

Dairy cows sold to £1440 per head from Newlands Farm or to 173p/pk from the same home.

79 calves and stirks were forward for todays sale. A top of £720 was achieved twice for a Beef Shorthorn x bullock from Littlegill Farm and Kingsfield House with their Limousin x heifer.

On milk calves topped at £340 from two vendors, Heatheryhall Farm with their one month Angus bull calf and Craigthornhill with their two month old Simmental bull calf.

Off milk realising £460 twice for two British Blue bull calves from Over Lethame Farm and Newlands Farm.

On Monday 14^th October Lawrie and Symington Ltd sold 3437 Lambs and 2156 Cast Ewes through Lanark.

Lambs

The 3437 prime lambs were a much better show for quality and flesh today in general with trade being a lot sharper on the week. Still plainer leaner sorts are worth more in the store ring.

The sale topped at £178 per head for Suffolks from Bents Farm and to 342p/kg for Beltex from Calton Farm.
