Show & Sale of Spring Born Suckled Calves – Tuesday 15th October 2024

15 October 2024

Lawrie & Symington Ltd

Lanark Agricultural Centre

Tuesday 15th October 2024

Lawrie and Symington sold 408 Spring born suckled calves to a packed ringside of buyers. Today’s trade peaked at £2600 or 984.8p for a smart 264kg Limousin x from Jean Mackay, Harelaw/Auchenairney, with bullocks topping at £1780 or 564.5p for a 352kg Limousin x from High Crewburn. Overall, 237 bullocks sold to average 353.44p and 171 heifers levelled at 345.9p.

The pre-sale show was ably judged by Mr Anderson Waddell, Hermiston who picked out a Limousin x bullock from High Crewburn as his Champion, which later scaled 310kg and sold at £1750 to the judge. Reserve Champion was awarded to a red Limousin x heifer from Sunnyside/Carbello which went on to sell at 344kg to £2150.

Thanks must also go to our show sponsors Flexi-bins, Stephen and Rosemary Hunter for presenting the prizes.
