Trade was fierce at this year’s Select Seven Sale with a full ringside of buyers as well as online bidding via MartEye. 92 entries were catalogued with 62 of them finding new homes the length and breath of the UK. With a 73% clearance rate, the 62 heads sold to average £3515.81.
Leading trade at 22,00gns was father and son duo, Hugh and Alan Blackwood, Auldhouseburn, Muirkirk. Their leading gimmer entry, BYZ24 35259 is sired by the 90,000gns Hilltop Goliath and out of a homebred dam sired by the 100,00gns Auldhouseburn Expression. She sells due to the 110,000gns Midlock Inferno to Messrs Boden & Davies, Sportsmans flock, Stockport.
Next top price at 12,000gns came from Archie & John MacGregor, Allanfauld, Kilsyth. Their leading gimmer, XMM24 27854, is sired by the 20,000gns Sportsmans Grand Slam and out of a homebred Claybury Dunkirk daughter. A full sister to last year’s National Show Reserve Champion, she sells jointly carrying twins to the 60,000gns Auldhouseburn In Business Now to Mr A Ligget, Corbo flock, Omagh and Drumcon Pedigrees, Ballyconnelly Road, Crumlin.
Auldhouseburn then received 11,000gns for their number two, BYZ24 35267. Sired by the 130,000gns Haymount Fan Dabi Dozi, she s out of a homebred daughter by Seaforde Empire King. She sold carrying a pair to Midlock Inferno, finding a new home with Messrs McCollam, Carmavy flock, Nutts Corner.
J & H Clark, North Garngour, Lesmahagow were the final vendor to receive a five-figure top price when they received 10,000gns for their opening entry, CJN24 09787. A daughter of the £22,000 Midlock Flockstar, she is out of a homebred dam by Procters Chumba Wumba. She sells due a single to the newly purchased Tirnageeragh Ideal to Messrs William Dunlop, Elmscleugh, Innerwick.
A special 30th Year Anniversary Show was held and stalwart Auctioneer, Brian Ross, was asked to judge at this final sale. His awards as follows:
