CLAYBURY “CROWN JEWELS” SHINE AT SHREWSBURY
An overwhelming crowd of buyers from all over the British Isles and Ireland were in attendance for the much anticipated dispersal of the Claybury Flock of Texels, on behalf of the Draper Family at Shrewsbury Auction Centre on Monday 29th December 2025.
In all 187 lots sold to 87 different buyers, The ringside was abuzz with a powerful MartEye. The sale topper was Ewe Lamb DHL2502673 Lot 148, by influential tup Wedderburn Highlander, off one of the Best Ewes ever bred at Claybury and she herself was described as probably the best we’ve ever bred Mr James Draper. The ringside and MartEye were abuzz with quickfire bidding before she sold for 26000gns to Mr C Boden for the “Mellor Vale” Flock.
The Shearling Ewes were full of power, presence and opportunity and it was another of James Drapers picks, his “Favourite from birth” DHL2402445, sired by Haddo Fabio, scanned to a triplet to Wedderburn Highlander topped the section at 17000gns (pictured below) selling to Alan Blackwood for his Auldhouseburn Flock, another headed for the same home was another from the same pen, DHL2402400 again by Haddo Fabio carrying triplets by Allanfauld Italian Job, she achieved 13000gns (pictured below).

The Donor Ewes today were in strong demand peaking at 7500gns for DHL2302244, a Rhaeadr Four Square Daughter, Carrying twins by Highlander, she was secured by local Breeder SP & CP Williams for their Wollascott Flock.
Recipient Ewes peaked at 2300gns for one carrying twins by Allanfauld Italian Job out of DHL2202076 to an undisclosed buyer another 2 flushes saw bids up to 2000gns for recipients carrying singles.
100 Straws of Semen were Auctioned off for the MND Association and Kidney Patients Association and achieved a top of £100 per Straw for Allanfauld Italian Job Followed at £50 for Wedderburn Highlander.
