Lawrie and Symington Ltd had forward 235 cattle comprising of 35 bullock and heifers, 110 cast cows and 90 calves and stirks.

Calves and Stirks

A soaring trade for on and off milk calves, with 90 calves on offer this week.  The sale was topped at £1460 for an exceptional Charolais cross beef bred bullock form Erskine, Middle Mains.

On milk calves topped at £720 for a Charolais cross bull calf from Wilson, Little Gill.

Next sale is on Monday 16th February.

There was 4471 Hoggs, 156 Store Hoggs and 1439 Cast Ewes sold through Lanark.

Hoggs

An excellent show of 4,471 prime hoggs were forward to a busy ring of buyers, all keen for sheep. All classes were in much stronger demand, and many more could easily have been sold to Scotland’s largest ringside of prime sheep buyers.

The sale topped at £188 per head for Beltex from Gibb, Toftcombs Farm, and at 391p/kg for Beltex from Frame, Haspielaw Farm.

Another large show of 1,438 cast ewes and rams were a lot dearer on the week and short of requirement. Blackface and Cheviot ewes sold easily, with the best-quality ewes achieving a good premium. Tups stayed steady too.

The sale topped at £370 per head for Texels from Gibson, Cowgrove Farm, and at £165 for Blackface from Galloway, Lochlyoch Farm.

Overall average £141.33. Blackface average £120.42 (493).

COMMISSION RATES
• Commission will be charged on all lots at 10% on FIRST £200 of any lot and 5% thereafter (e.g., Sold at £350 = £20+£7.50=£27.50), capped at £350 per lot. Minimum £5 per lot. • All purchases will be subject to a 3% plus VAT buyer's premium on all lots capped at £350 per item sold by auction or by private treaty.

Tractors, Gators, Quads and Vehicle (To be sold online) £10 + VAT per lot DELIVERY OF ITEMS TO SALE YARD All Farm Machinery and Implements must be delivered to our saleyard by 3 pm on the day before the sale with the exception of Tractors, Vehicles and Quad which may arrive no later than 10.00am on the Thursday. ONLINE FACILITY
