A smaller entry of sheep on the previous year saw trade very sticky apart from the best end of animals on offer. As ever the demand for quality is always there however the lesser end struggles.

Sale topped at 1,000gns for the overall champion from the Powblack flock. This gimmer is sired by Powblack Imyourman, a prize winner twice at the Royal Highland Show and won at Scottish National Show 2025, he’s a beautiful example of a Hampshire Down. The Dam is well put together and has length plus style which has developed naturally on a grass-fed system at home. Taking home the top price was Mackay Partners, Glaick Ardross, Alness.

Also at 1,000gns was the reserve champion from the Lecropt flock. A ram lamb sired by Norman by Highlander and out of a Lecropt homebred dam. He heads off too Mr Mark Weir, Springbank Farm, Prestwick.

At 900gns was a gimmer again by Mr B Steel of Powblack flock. This gimmer is sired by Whitby Jimmie Crankie, 5th highest indexed tup in the country 2024. Her dam is by one of the top flocks in the country in the past – Eastfourtune Furlough, so therefore her pedigree is a guarantee to produce nice lambs. She also heads to Mackay Partners, Glaick Ardross, Alness.

Again, at 900gns was a ewe lamb from the Lecropt flock. This ewe lamb was sired by Normanby Highlander and out of a Lecropt homebred dam. She now heads home to Linnside Farm at Lanark with Mr S Douglas.
