THURSDAY 16TH JULY 2026

The company were delighted to once again to host the Scottish Area Branch of the Suffolk Sheep Society for their 91st Show and Sale. The heat was certainly on with six lots realising five-figures. Breeders sheep saw 83 lots sell between 1,000gns and 7,000gns with the commercial trade also strong between 600gns-1000gns.

Topping the Sale at 28,000gns (Video below) and also the Overall Pre-Sale Champion was the leading Ram Lamb from Messrs Wallace, Claycrop pen. Sired by £40,000 Limestone King of Diamonds, a joint private purchased last year, he is out of a homebred ewe by 48,000gns Limestone Marksman. He joins the Sportsmans flock with the father and son duo, Charlie and Tom Boden down in Stockport.

Next top price showing Pre-Sale judging was on-point was the Reserve Overall Champion from Stewart Lathangie at Pyeston realising 20,000gns (Video below), with his pen of five seeing four five-figure prices achieved and an average of 12,900gns. His top price was his pen leader and again sired by the £40,000 Limestone King of Diamonds. His dam is homebred and out of Sportsmans Masterplan. He joins the Cranorskie flock with Craig Paterson, Huntly.

Stewart continued with a strong trade with a further two ram lambs realising 16,000gns each and both sired by the £40,000 Limestone King of Diamonds. First was Stewart’s number two lamb, an ET Brother to the 20,000gns, he sold jointly to C Whitticase and Son, Glanywern, Oswestry and Georgia Delves, Chaseleyfields, Powys.

His number three entry also out of a 2023-born homebred ewe, again by Sportsmans Masterplan and also King of Diamonds. He sold jointly to the Pedigree Classes’ Judge, Dafyyd Jones, Frongoy flock, Ceredigion and TA Irwin and Sons, Kings flock, Devon.

Earlier on in the sale, breed stalwart Jimmy Young, Muirton received 12,000gns for his ram lamb after standing 2nd Prize in the Agri-Images Masters Ram Lamb Class. Sired by Salopian Zoolander and out of a Mullaghboy Mustang homebred daughter. He was purchased by R A Lawrence, Roundacre flock, Devon and B Roth, Tolgus flock, Cornwall.

The final five-figure price of the day was 11,000gns also coming from the Pyeston flock. Another by King of Diamonds, his dam was the 4,000gns Frongoy ewe sired by Stockton Sniper’s Son. He was snapped by Messrs Arthur, Highmuir flock, Lockerbie.
