LAWRIE & SYMINGTON LTD, LANARK AGRICULTURAL CENTRE

THURSDAY 17TH SEPTEMBER 2026

SHOW & SALE OF TEXEL SHEEP (On behalf of Scottish Texel Sheep Breeders Club)

The company welcomed back the Scottish Texel Club for their Annual Show & Sale of Texel Sheep. Although catalogued numbers were down on the year, the Ram Lamb trade rose just over £235 on the year. Although a lesser number forward, quality was stronger. MartEye was successfully used once again and had its place amongst the live sale ring bidding with a few lots strongly secured.

Topping the sale at 3,800gns was Haymount Junior, a ram lamb consigned by W Jack Arnott, Haymount Farm, Kelso. A son of Rue Wood Indiana and out of a homebred daughter sired by the 100,000gns Strathbogie Gladiator, he joins the Castlecairn flock with Bruce and Fletcher Renwick, Legars Farm, Kelso.

3,000gns was the next top price received for Milnbank Julio, placed second prize in the Pre-Sale Show for Robbie Wilson, North Dorlaithers Farm, Turriff, he s by the Auldhouseburn Imperial King and out of a Clanfield Golden homebred daughter. He was sold to Chris Mallaber, Park Farm, Drakelow.

J & H Clark then received 2,600gns for their Tirnageeragh Ideal son, Garngour Jenson. He joins Messrs T Laird & Son, Sunnyside/Carbello, Cumnock.

Topping the Shearling Ram trade at 1,500gns was regular consignor, Kenny Johnstone, Boghouse Farm, Crawfordjohn with Boghouse Ista La Vista. A son the 4,800gns Douganhill Grand Champion purchased back in 2024. He now heads to the Isle of Skye to Isabella Nicolson, Peinlich.

Gimmers peaked at 950gns for the first lot in the ring from RJ & RD Carruth, Auchensale, Bridge of Weir. A daughter of Eden Valley Hit the Diff and out of a Cambwell dam sired by Hilltop Fantasy, she now heads to Falkirk to join E Reid’s flock at Middlerigg Farm.
