Suckled Calves – Tuesday 13th October 2026

13 October 2026

Lawrie & Symington Ltd

Lanark Agricultural Centre

Tuesday 13th October

355 spring born suckled calves met a buoyant trade with standing room only at the ringside.

The show was ably judged by Mr J Anderson, Old Walls who found his champion in a red Limousin heifer from the Robertson family of Newton of Logierait Farm which scaled 374kg and sold to £4900 or 1310.2p. The reserve champion, a Limousin heifer, came from the pen from Messrs Laird, Sunnyside/Carbello Farm which later weighed 374kg and sold to £3700 or 989.3p.

A special feature of today’s sale was a Limousin heifer from the Hamilton family of High Crewburn Farm which was sold in aid of Leukemia Research at £3300 in memory of our friend and colleague Elizabeth Hamilton.

Out with the show, bullocks peaked at £3450 for a 358kg Limousin from Newton of Logierait or to 963.7p for the same beast to level at 483.7p.

Heifers sold to a top of £4900 or 1310.2p for the champion beast from Newton of Logierait to average 472.1p.

Overall sale average 479p.
