24th April 2026
The opening sale of ewes with lambs at foot saw 569 lives forward and provided an excellent show of quality and types, with plenty of well-bred Beltex cross lambs on offer. Stronger outfits were in serious demand, with a busy ring of buyers present. Many people would not even get a start made and more will be needed each week to fulfil demand.
The sale topped at £168 for Texel ewes with Suffolk single lambs from Messrs Gray, Chapelhill Farm, followed by £165 for Suffolks with Texel single lambs from the same home.
Included was a reduction from Messrs A Gibb, Toftcombs Farm, who sold 40 Texel cross and Cheviot Mule 2–4 crop ewes with excellent Beltex lambs. They sold at £162 for singles and £151 and £150 for twins. (He will consign the same number for the next few weeks.)
