Show Report

On Monday the 27th November 2023 Lawrie and Symington Ltd had forward 152 prime cattle and cast cows at their Christmas Show & Sale.  Today’s show was kindly sponsored by Agrimin Ltd, the judge was Jamie Chapman from Chapman Butchers, Wishaw with over 40 cattle forward for the show Jamie made an excellent job.

Overall champion was a Limousin heifer from Messrs D Dickinson, Brockwood lees Farm, Canonbie selling to 440p per kilo to J & H Cairns Butchers, Law.

Reserve champion was a Charolais heifer from Messrs J Warnock, Dreva Farm, Biggar selling to 345p per kilo to S Collins butchers, Coatbridge.

On Monday 27th November 2023 Lawrie and Symington Ltd sold 2769 Lambs and 2482 Cast Ewes and Rams through Lanark.

 

Lambs

A much smaller show of 2769 prime lambs saw an excellent show for quality with trade similar on the week and numbers short of buyer requirements.  More could easily be sold.

The sale topped at £190 per head for Texel from Messrs Johnstone, Boghouse and to 326p/kg for Beltex    from Messrs Frame, Cronin.

Cast Sheep

A larger show of 2482 cast ewes (1011 Blackface) saw a mixed show for quality with good ewes dearer and Blackface and Cheviot ewes easier on the week unless well fleshed.  Many ewes showing the effects of wet weather.  Mule ewes hardest to cash.

The sale topped at £280 per head for Texel from Messrs Dunlop, An-Glasach and to £76 Blackface from Messrs Pate, Toxside & Messrs Warnock, Dreva.

COMMISSION RATES
• Commission will be charged on all lots at 10% on FIRST £200 of any lot and 5% thereafter (e.g., Sold at £350 = £20+£7.50=£27.50), capped at £350 per lot. Minimum £5 per lot. • All purchases will be subject to a 3% plus VAT buyer's premium on all lots capped at £350 per item sold by auction or by private treaty.

ENTRY FEES
Tractors, Gators, Quads and Vehicle (To be sold online) £10 + VAT per lot DELIVERY OF ITEMS TO SALE YARD All Farm Machinery and Implements must be delivered to our saleyard by 3 pm on the day before the sale with the exception of Tractors, Vehicles and Quad which may arrive no later than 10.00am on the Thursday. Due to ongoing Health and Safety issues, there will be NO unloading facility available on Sale Day with loading permitted only after the conclusion of the sale.

ONLINE FACILITY
Tractor, Telehandlers, Gators, Quads and Vehicles will also be offered for sale through our online facility alongside the live sale via a drive through, any machine which cannot be driven through will be sold in the line with no online facility.
