INAUGURAL SHOW & SALE OF DORSET SHEEP (On behalf of Scottish Dorset Breeders’ Club)
Lawrie & Symington Ltd welcomed for the first time the Scottish Dorset Breeders’ Club for the Show & Sale of Dorset Sheep where 71 heads were catalogued.
At the Pre-Sale Show, ably judged by Miss Christina Johnson of the Bamburgh flock awarded the following prizes:

Topping the sale was a shearling ram at 700gns with Sandy Lane Fargo from Sam Drivers, Sandy Lane flock based in Derbyshire. Sired by Ballytaggart Echo and out of a homebred dam by Kildowney Zambezi, heads to works with A McKerral, Woodbank in Kilmarnock.
Next up was the 2nd prize and top price ram lamb at 500gns from Messrs I & G Farmer, Balbedie, Lochgelly who runs the Cowden flock. This lamb, Cowden Gatsby, is by Lanamuir Edward and out Beinn Lair Cocoban by Stobilee Big Show. He sold to T S Bathgate & Sons, Castleton, Gorebridge.
Very closely followed by Stobilee Grandfather’s Rights from Messrs R & A Morton, Stobilee, Lanark. This ram lamb reached 480gns and heads to WA Kendall, Back Hareshaw, Drumclog.
Females topped at 450gns, also from Sam Driver, Sandy Lane. This gimmer was the Female Champion and she is Downkillybegs Enhancer with her dam by Ballytaggart Zoro. She was purchased online and heads to Campbeltown with S Herraty at High Ranachan.
Topping the ewe lambs was the judge, Christina Johnson at 320gns twice. The first to reach this was a Ballyhamage Dazzler daughter, and out of a Sherborne Warfare homebred dam. The second was by Ballytaggart Elite, and out of a Huish Zaki homebred dam. Both now head off to Devon with Martin Pearse, Village Farm.
