LANARK CRACKERS

FRIDAY 10TH DECEMBER 2021

Friday night saw the annual Lanark Crackers Sale of In-Lamb gimmer and geld ewe lambs.

Trade proved sticky for parts with only the best end of the in-lamb females easy to sell. The ewe lambs were also keenly bid for.

The sale topped at 6,000gns for a ewe lamb (photographed below) from Myfyr Evans, Rhaeadr pen. This Sportsmans Dare Devil daughter found a new home with Messrs Craft, Balgeddie, Fife.

Next at 5,000gns was the sales top priced in-lamb gimmer (photographed below) from Cammie Gauld, Cairnam. His pen leader, a Straidarran Casino daughter sold carrying a single to Procters Extra Special and finds a new home with Gillian Adams, Ashtree, Banchory.

Second top in the in-lamb gimmers came from Messrs Barclay, Harestone’s pen when his number three (photographed below), a Rhaeadr Ace daughter realised 4,200gns. She sold carrying a pair to Procters El Presidente and was snapped up by Jeff Aiken for Procters Farms.

Also at 4,200gns was the second ewe lamb (photographed below) from Messrs MacPherson, Hexel pen. This Procters Chumba Wumba daughter made her way north with Douglas Webster for his Lower Reiss flock.

Kerr Jarvie’s Duncryne flock enjoyed a good evening when his first two gimmers both realised 3,000gns. Firstly, Lot 56 – a Milnbank Brooklyn daughter sold with a single to Procters Extra Special and was purchased by Malcolm Coubrough for his Hartside flock.

Next lot 57, a Knock Bantastic daughter carrying a pair to Rhaeadr Equilizer and went home with Sandy Hunter, Wedderburn, Huntly.

Also hitting the 3,000gns mark was the pen leader from Michael Leggat’s Foreman Hill flock. This Strathbogie Batchelor II daughter sold in-lamb to Milnbank Dance Monkey and was also accompanied with an embryo pregnancy. The final bid for this lot came from Messrs Green, Drumburn, Keith.
