On Monday Lawrie and Symington Ltd had 88 outstanding calves forward for the Christmas show and Sale and the last calf sale of 2024.
Champion calf (pictured) was a 1.5-month-old British Blue X heifer calf from Wilson, Littlegill. She then went on to sell for £450. Reserve Champion was another British blue X heifer from Bryson, Dykehead realising £400.
Top price today was achieved by a 3.5-month-old Inra bull calf from Pirie, Machrihanish reaching £550.

Lawrie and Symington Ltd sold 4153 Lambs and 1465 Cast Sheep through Lanark.
Lambs
Another good show of 4153 Prime Lambs were forward with trade again strong in all classes. Many more required to fulfill buyer demand.
Today saw the Annual Christmas Show & Sale of Prime Sheep, where judging was in the capable hands of Jimmy Blenkhorn of Shans Group Ltd.
He awarded the Championship to Messrs R Anderson, Oldwalls Farm, Galston with their 41kg Beltex Lambs which realised £250 or 510.2p/kg selling to the judge on behalf of Shans Group Ltd.
The Reserve Champion award went to Mrs M Dunlop, Corstane Farm, Broughton with their 50kg Beltex Lambs which realised £215 or 430p/kg to local butchers Messrs Cairns, Law (2) and Messrs Chapman, Wishaw (3).
Outwith the Christmas Show & Sale, the sale topped at £196 per head for Texels from Mr I Laird, Yeldabreck and to 357p/kg for Beltex from Mr C Wight, Whinnybrae.
