LANARK LIMELIGHTS – ONLINE TIMED SALE OF IN-LAMB FEMALES & EMPTY EWE HOGGS

Lanark Limelights again returned to the Online Timed Auction via new platform providers at Marteye where 36 entries were offered. An 86% clearance rate saw 31 females find new homes across the UK and Northern Ireland.
Sale topper was a Bluefaced Leicester Gimmer, R78 Midlock from regular sale supporters Messrs J Wight & Sons, Midlock, Crawford which topped at 4,000gns. Sired by N2 Midlock Zeus, she is out M90 Midlock who herself is sired by K4 Marriforth. Changing hands due triplets to R26 Midlock, she now heads to Ayrshire joining the Nisbets flock for James Nisbet, Orchardton Mains, Ochiltree after a real bidding war.
Sticking with the Bluefaced Leicesters, the next top price came in at 1,500gns, also from Midlock. This time was their No. 1 Ewe Hogg selling to Messrs Forbes, Clunebeg, Pitlochry. For their money, they receive S104 Midlock who is daughter of M1 Riddings and out of N113 Midlock, a daughter of L1 Hundith.
The final four-figure price at 1,300gns was realised for another Bluefaced Leicester Gimmer, R46 Beeches from Finlay Robertson, The Beeches, West Calder. By P8 Moneygran and out of N15 Beeches, a daughter of L25 Midlock, she is also due triplets to the £15,000 R2 Hewgill. After a furry of bids, she heads out to the West Coast with Messrs W & J Montgomery, Invernoaden, Strachur.
The sole Texel entry came from Mr A J Clark, Blackhill, Crossford with a gimmer from his Teiglum flock, CFT22 00758. A daughter of his homebred sire, Teiglum Entertainer, she is out of a Procters Chumba Wumba homebred 2020-born daughter. Due twins to Mullan Governor, she sold at 800gns to Mr C Buchan, Pentland Cresent, Larkhall who is establishing his new Texel flock.
Top price of 650gns was realised in the Dutch Spotted section for Mountain Mist Freya, 289/F00030, a March 2022 born ewe from Mr AHB Murray, The Beeches, Canonbie who runs the Glenshee flock. By the imported sire ‘Highlander’, she is out of an Imported dam. Due in March to Diamond Ferocious, she is said to be having Twins. She heads to Aspatria to Andrea Hunt, Threapland to join her Croft flock.
Beltexs topped at 550gns from Messrs J Y Barclay & Co, Mid Brockloch, Maybole for Beachy Early Exit, JJB.E064. This 3-Crop ewe is sired by Beachy Dennis the Menace and out of a Beachy Noble King daughter, Beachy Salad. She is due twins to Beachy Gypsy King and sold to David Gilliland, Greenfield, Strathaven.
Two Kerryhills were offered from Miss Anna Smith, Wester Crosswoodhill, West Calder from her Wester flock. Topping at 450gns was a Four Cross sired Gimmer and out of Purclewan Boris dam. This gimmer heads to Lindsay Stewart, Balglass at Lennoxtown, due a single at the end of February to Kingswater Arizona.
Blue Texels saw their trade top at 350gns, again from the Glenshee flock for Isaac’s Fabulous, ISA/21/00684 – a 1-Crop Ewe. By Hackney Dakota, she is out Isaac’s Ditzy, a daughter of Beanhill Amazon Prime. Due Twins in March to Knockmult Geoff. She heads to Ayrshire with Alan & Shona Stevenson, Carbello, Cumnock.
