Lawrie & Symington Ltd saw 73 entries forward for their Online Timed Auction via MartEye of Bluefaced Leicesters, Beltex and Texel In-Lamb Females and Geld Hoggs. A clearance of 85% finding new homes across the UK.
Leading trade with their Bluefaced Leicester Gimmer (T147 Midlock) at 2,300gns was Midlock Farms Ltd, Midlock from father and son duo, Allan and Ben Wight. Sired by the S50 Midlock, a son of Firth Superted R8, her dam is the homebred N70, a daughter of M1 Riddings. This flashy gimmer sold carrying twins to Brennand V1 to Messrs P & E Teasdale, Farnham Park for their Clennell Hill flock.
Craig Thornborrow, Nunnerie BFL topped his trade at 2,100gns with R30 – a Bluefaced Leicester Aged Ewe carrying twins to P56 Dawyck. A daughter of M2 Smearsett, she is out of L50 Dawyck, a daughter herself of K1 Shafthill. She sold to RJ Fallows & Sons, Cockrigg for their Burnton flock.
Midlock Farms then topped the Bluefaced Leicester Ewe Hogg trade twice at 1,700gns. Their first entry, V88 Midlock is a daughter of the T2 Drummuck, a son of S2 Cottage and out of S119 Midlock and sired by N17 Dawyck, she was Midlock Magic’s dam also. The final bidders were Messrs PA & LM Murray, High Ersock.
The other to realise 1,700gns from Midlock Farms was their next entry, V69 Midlock. A daughter of T1 Hewgill, a son of S1 Sealhouses and out of their homebred S118 Midlock, another daughter of N17 Dawyck. She also joins the Clennell Hill flock with Messrs Teasdale.
Topping the Texel trade at 1,600gns was Thomas Muirhead, Orchilmore flock with a Gimmer, MZU24 15897, who is sired by the 65,000gns Teiglum Goliath and out of a homebred dam sired by Teiglum Exocet. She sold carrying twins to Knap High Flyer to Messrs G & J Allan, Kingsfield for their Cauldcoats flock.
David Morrison, Dalwyne had forward four Blue Texel entries. Topping his trade at 800gns was Carsaig Hrh – an Aged Ewe sired by the 10,000gns Matt’s Gypsy King, and out of Ettrick Erina, a daughter of Pistyll Dynamite. She sells carrying twins to Derg Krypton to Messrs Hughes, Rhydeilian, Anglesey.
Messrs Barclay, Mid Brockloch also had forward two Beltex entries from their Beachy and Twinsplusone flock. Leading their trade at 600gns was Twinsplusone Kitkat – a gimmer from Cameron, Finaly and Archie’s flock. Sired by their homebred sired, Beachy Gypsy King, a son of Glenpark Dynamite, she is a daughter of Lakeview Groovy who is sired by Ainstable Factotum. She joins the Roadend flock with Messrs M & G Ballantyne, East Cauldcoats carrying twins to Faughhill Joc.
Also included in the sale was the Dispersal of the Cleuch flock of Bluefaced Leicesters, on behalf of Mr J P Bain. He had forward 23 heads from Ewe Hoggs to Aged Ewes. Leading his trade was the 3-Crop Aged Ewe, 4652/P014 – an Old Hyndhope ewe sired by M2 Nisbets who is a son of L16 Cottage. Her dam is M10 Old Hyndope, a daughter of L1 Old Hyndhope. She sold to G Little, Provast Way, Largs. Mr Little also secured a further five lots from the Dispersal, with Messrs Shedden, Newfield Mains also securing seven lots from the Dispersal. Cleuch Dispersal sold 23 to average £393.98.
