SALE REPORT:

Lawrie & Symington Ltd held their Inaugural Show & Sale of Hampshire Down Sheep on behalf of the Scottish Club.

An excellent entry of sheep saw a tremendous clearance with the best sheep easily sold with plenty of keen bidding. A great success and will surely be able to be built upon.

The sale topped at 1,800gns was the Ram Lamb from the Graylen flock. Missing the Pre-Sale Show due to judging himself, this lamb from Graham and Judith Galbraith is sired by their homebred ram, Graylen Quartermaster. This lamb was out of a 2019-born dam sired by Benniworth Rupert. Taking home the top price was Findlay Crocker, Speediehill, Perth.

At 1,350gns and topping the Gimmer Section was the Powblack flock from Bruce & Irene Steel based in Stirling. Sired by Powblack Gaelic Prine, and out of a Eastfortune Furlough 2022-born daughter. She also heads to Speediehill with Messrs Crocker.

Matching the price and again from Powblack was their third catalogued gimmer. The time sister to their opening entry and also heads home with Messrs Crocker.

The Reserve Male Champion was the Ram Lamb at 1,100gns from David Taylor, Bridgehaugh, based in Earlston. A son of Bridgehaugh Quinn, he is out of a homebred 2021-born daughter by  Lumb Laird. He head to Raindale Head Farm in Pickering with Messrs I & S Clough.

Back in the limelight with gimmers, was the Powblack flock from the Steel family with their last entry in their run of Gimmers who stood 2nd in the Pre-Sale Show. Sired by Eastfortune Furlough, this one is out of a homebred 2019-born ewe and sired by Isleofbute Oberon. She now joins the Caerlaverock flock with Liz and Steven Brown, Dumfries.

David Taylor also received 1,000gns for his third gimmer entry. Sired by 4,600gns Graylen Officer, she is out of a Raburn ewe sired by Normanby Quartermaster. She heads home with Ian and Annette Dixon, Cantsfield in Carnforth.
