Inaugural Show & Sale of 112 Kerry Hill Sheep

Lawrie & Symington Ltd conducted their Inaugural Show and Sale of Kerry Hill Sheep on behalf of the Kerry Hill Flock Book Society. A tremendous show of quality stock on offer ensured a flying trade throughout topping at an excellent 7,800gns for a Shearling Ram consigned by Miss Sophie McCarlie, Wester Hassockrigg, Harthill. He was the Reserve Male Champion and Reserve Overall Champion at today’s Pre-Sale Show. A son of Birsca Caspain, and out of a homebred dam sired by Pentrenant (42112) he now heads to Herefordshire with Messrs J & P Owen, Woodhouse flock.
Bidding was fierce for the best sheep on offer and next at 3,400gns for the 2nd Prize Shearling Ram from Messrs Stuart and Angie Burgess, Lintmill, New Abbey who run the Top Spot flock. A son of Pentrenant Choir Boy and out Top Spot Cowgirl, a daughter of Reidstown Rambo. He sold in a two-way share with three-quarters of him selling to Miss Anna Smith, Wester Crosswoodhill, West Calder for her Wester flock, with the remainder of the share selling to Messrs Dick, Hamildean, Peebles.
Topping again in the the Ram Lamb section the best end was excellent at 2,800gns again from the Top Spot flock. Another sired by Choir Boy, he is out of Top Spot Angela, a daughter of Wrotham Clifford. He stays in Scotland and joins the Dalwyne flock with David Morrison, Girvan.
