Lawrie and Symington Ltd held its weekly sale of Store Lambs where a record 9478 heads were sold. Trade for best lambs easily maintained. Included today were 4575 Blackface Wedder Lambs at the principal Show and Sale, in conjunction with the Livestock Marketing (Borders) Ltd. Lambs were shown in great bloom to a packed ringside to average £87.89 (A rise of £12.76)

Out with the Blackface show and sale, a record entry of 2487 Cheviot lambs were forward for the Annual show and sale, ably judged by Haig Murray. His champions winning the Clark, Wellhead memorial trophy was Mr C Bradbury, Halliburton Farm which went on to realise £120 to T Clark, Wellhead Farm. Aside from the show, the regular 2861 store lambs of other breeds topped at £135 for Texels from Longformacus farms
