Lawrie and Symington Ltd held their weekly sale of 6750 store lambs, including the second Blackface sale (in conjunction with Livestock Marketing Ltd) and the new “Lanark October Cheviot Champion”.

Show & Sale for both North Country Cheviot and South Country Cheviot Lambs saw 2184 head forward to average £89.81. The show was ably judged by Mr Alan Taylor, Heatheryhall Farm who awarded the Champion to a pen of NCC from Bonney, Stobo Home Farm, Peebles. They went on to realise £118 to the judge and received the new Salver. Reserve went to NCC from Pate, Nettlingflat Farm also realising £118.

The 1667 Texels/Suffolks/Beltex/Mules & Easy Care lambs sold well especially if strong. Longer keep lambs harder to cash.

Topping at £164 for Suffolks from Lawrie, Ransefield Farm. Beltex to £133 from Guild, O’Laight Farm. Texels sold to £130 from Campbell, Howes Way and Black, Broomlands Farm. Mules reaslised £110 from Kirkpatrick, Barr Farm. East Care to £105 from Wight, Harthope Farm.

At the second sale of Blackface wedder lambs in conjunction with Livestock Marketing (Borders) Ltd, 2921 wedder lambs sold to average £71.73 (up £5.07 on the year) with many 4/5 draws forward. Lambs sold readily to a large ringside of buyers.
